Biography

Daniel Lismore, born in Bournemouth, is now a London-based artist and LGBTQ+ activist.

 

He began his career as a photographer, but within a year his captivating personality had drawn him to move in front of the lens, and Lismore soon became a model. Lismore continued to demonstrate his artistry as a creative consultant for Mert & Marcus, Steven Klein, David LaChapelle and Ellen von Unwerth.

 

Consistently recognised for his style, in 2016, Vogue crowned Daniel Lismore as 'England's Most Eccentric Dresser', and in 2017, he was named one of the top 100 on the out 100 List. In 2018 and 2020, Lismore was also selected for the Guardian's Pride Power List.

 

In 2016, Daniel Lismore published his first book, 'Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken,' which documented the 32 figurative sculptures that comprised his first USA museum exhibition, later displayed at Miami Art Basel.

 

In 2016, Lismore also became the Circuit Ambassador for the Tate Museums, having already held three solo exhibitions between 2012 and 2013 in the Tate Modern and Tate Britain. In 2017, Lismore went on to exhibit at the Venice Biennale, and in 2018, Lismore curated a month-long show of his work at Harpa Hall in Iceland, which subsequently toured Europe, a sensational exhibition attended by over 150,000 visitors.

 

In 2021, Lismore made his debut as a performance artist at an exhibition of his work at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London for their Fashion in Motion programme, joining his sculptures as a living statue.
