Patrick Hughes: Reverspective : Dublin Gallery

Born in 1939, Hughes is the creator of "reverspective", an optical illusion on a three-dimensional surface where the parts of the picture which seem farthest away are actually physically the nearest.

Hughes work is included in the permanent collections of the TATE Modern in London and MOMA in New York.  For the past 25 years his 3-D paintings have been exhibited internationally and featured in many other leading museums and public collections. The experience of seeing a Patrick Hughes painting in reality is really to experience unreality and the paradox of illusory space and movement.
