John Redmond- Lifelines: Dublin Gallery
The official opening takes place on Thursday 12th October from 6 - 9pm and will be opened by Louise Kennedy, with a drinks reception by Jameson.
Gormleys is delighted to present an exhibition by Irish abstract artist John Redmond.
‘Lifelines’ is based on Redmond’s artistic life over the past decade and how quickly time moves on. Redmond has been exhibiting for over 10 years but 2 years ago, stepped away as creative director at Brown Thomas to pursue painting full-time.
Turning 50 was a particular milestone for Redmond as he exhibited his work publicly for the first time. Since then, he has had 4 successful solo exhibitions in Ireland and Spain. Lifelines reflects Redmond’s artistic career to date and covers each chapter from the past decade. This body of work and each chapter draws on memories, feelings and past exhibitions from that time.
Influenced by the Abstraction-Création artists based in Paris in the 1930’s, Redmond’s abstract art has given him the artistic freedom to be more spontaneous with his ideas, now that he has left his corporate creative life behind. This is evident from this body of precise, geometric paintings which balance colour flawlessly.
As Redmond now embarks on the start of a new chapter in turning 60, this exhibition marks his first solo exhibition with Gormleys.
The exhibition runs in our Dublin gallery from 12th - 29th October.
